S. Costanza speaks with Fr. Daniele regarding her vocation.
Formation for every Sister in our congregation is a life-long process of growth in her relationship with God, self, others and all of creation. However, a candidate who seeks membership in the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph has a more formal period of five to eight years to prepare for full-membership. The newer member is gradually introduced to this way of life through two successive stages of formation: novitiate and temporary profession.

The first part of the two year novitiate program is adapted to the needs of an individual and designed to introduce the new member to life in community with the Sisters of St. Joseph.
A full year is devoted to intense spiritual formation which includes prayer, study, community life and apostolic ministry.
It has as its purpose a deepening of her Christian life, an introduction to the spirit and spirituality of the congregation and an opportunity to discover whether God is calling her to the life and works of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste Marie.
Following her novitiate time, the new member makes temporary profession of the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience for a period of 3-6 years as a Sister of St. Joseph. Following this period of time, the candidate may be admitted as a perpetually professed Sister or she may decide to withdraw from the congregation to continue to live her Christian commitment in another way.
