Friday, June 1 marks the last day for Evelyn as a Switchboard Operator at St. Joseph's Motherhouse. During the FOURTH week of MAY, we listen to the heart of the world and hold in our prayer the Sisters of St. Joseph and the people of THE GAMBIA. The Sisters of St. Joseph of Annecy have 7 sisters in the Gambia. They are involved in health care, AIDS programs, women’s promotion, education and parish work.
Greg Humbert has compiled a history of Catholic Healthcare throughout Canada. The project is not yet complete for all healthcare systems, but be sure to check out the ones that are done. A huge thank you to Greg for undertaking this amazing project. So many interesting facts!
This week we hold in prayer all the Associates and Sisters of St. Joseph living and ministering in France along with the people of that country. Birth place of our Congregation, our statistics show that presently there are about 1200 sisters and 29 associates in France, from among the Congregations of Annecy, Chambéry, Lyon, St. Vallier, Champagnole and Institut des Souers de Saint Joseph. Their ministries include parish and pastoral work, work in the Caritas Clinic, with asylum seekers, care of the elderly and disabled, education of youth and catechesis, volunteer services with NGO’s and occasional participation in various Associations. We hold also in prayer the staff of our International Centre: Sr. Eluiza de Andrade and Associate Olga Bonfiglio
During the SECOND week of MAY, we listen to the heart of the world and hold in our prayer the Sisters of St. Joseph and the people of EGYPT. This week we hold in prayer the sixteen Sisters of St. Joseph of the Lyon Congregation and the people of Egypt. The Sisters ministries include: education, catechesis and pastoral work. Some work in the Caritas Clinic, and others participate in various Associations. During the FIRST week of MAY, we listen to the heart of the world and hold in our prayer the Sisters of St. Joseph and the people of EL SALVADOR. This week we pray for the one Sister of St. Joseph of Orange, ministering in El Salvador and for the people of that county.
May 1st we celebrate the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker and at our Motherhouse we also celebrate mission day for our Sisters, Staff, Volunteers. We had a wonderful liturgy and luncheon. Congratulations to Bill Milne who won the Mission Award. See our photo album for photos.
