In 1966 the six Canadian congregations of the Sisters of St. Joseph established the Canadian Federation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in order to be a support for each other. The Canadian Federation continues, however four of the original six congregations merged into one congregation in 2013.
Today the Federation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Canada is a dynamic partnership of the three Canadian communities of the Sisters of St. Joseph who continue to share a common history and spirituality. These communities include:
These three communities in the Canadian Federation support each other in the main purposes as expressed in the Federation’s Mission Statement which is based on the St. Joseph spirituality of relationships, these being –
United by a common story and charism we form a Federation whose purpose is to focus and empower one another in the passionate living of our mission of active and inclusive love.
The Canadian Federation of the Sisters of St. Joseph is linked through history and charism with a vast worldwide network of Sisters of St. Joseph each working for the unity and reconciliation across our world.
