The Sisters of St. Joseph have been involved in education since their founding in France in the 17th century. Though the number of actively teaching Sisters has decreased in recent years, we still have Sisters working in elementary and secondary education as teachers and consultants.
These Sisters currently serve within the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board in Sault Ste. Marie and the Superior North Catholic District School board as well as Lakehead University in Thunder Bay as chaplain to the university students. In addition to full-time education ministry, there are a number of Sisters who volunteer their services in schools throughout the north, praying with classes, teaching music, etc.
