Sister Margaret Smith Clinic
 

Sister Margaret Smith was a bit of a legend in the field of addiction treatment.  On June 15, 1967, despite significant medical opposition, she opened the first publicly funded hospital treatment program for alcohol and drug dependent persons in an unused nurses' residence at St. Joseph's (Hospital) Care Group in Thunder Bay, Ontario." In 2009, the treatment Centre moved from the hospital to a new and expanded site.

Fire by Arson - October 1994

St. Agnes Convent was established by the Peterborough Sisters in 1924 and assumed by the Sault Ste. Marie Sisters in 1948.

Fire by arson during the night of October 4-5 while the four Sisters living there were sleeping.
