St. Joseph's Motherhouse (SJMH) is committed to improving accessibility for people with disabilities by
meeting the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) accessibility standards.
We are committed to preventing, identifying and removing barriers that impede an individual's ability to access
care and services, or to work here.
The SJMH Accessibility Policy outlines our continuing efforts to eliminate accessibility barriers, including those
    that are:

    • Physical
    • Informational
    • Technological
    • Attitudinal; and
    • Related to policy or practice

Documents outlining our policies and practices related to the Customer Service Standard (Ontario Regulation 429/07) are available upon request.

    Accessible Formats and Communication Supports

SJMH is committed to providing inclusive and barrier-free access to information, documentation, programs and services. SJMH shall, upon request and in consultation with the person making the request, make available
any public document, including public emergency procedures, plans and safety information, in an accessible format.
Accessible formats and/or communication supports will be provided in a timely manner, taking into account the person's accessibility needs and consideration factors such as the media chosen, size, complexity, quality of source documents, and number of documents to be converted. Request for accessible documents will be done at a cost that is no more than the regular cost charged to other persons. SJMH may be unable to provide accessible formats for unconvertible information or communications and information that SJMH does not control directly or indirectly.

    Service and Communication Commitment

In fulfilling its mission, St. Joseph's Motherhouse strives to provide services to all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, in a way that respects core principles of independence, dignity, integration and equality of opportunity. This includes communicating with individuals with disabilities in a manner that takes into account their disability. Employees and volunteers should ask individuals directly what is the preferred communication method for them. Guide Dogs and Service Animals
Individuals with disabilities, accompanied by a guide dog or other service animal, are permitted to enter the premises and keep the animal with them, unless the animal is otherwise excluded by law from certain areas of the premises.

    Support Persons

Individuals with disabilities, accompanied by a support person, are permitted to enter the premises together and to have access to each other while on the premises.

    Assistive Devices

Individuals requiring assistive devices can use such devices on the premises.
Disruption of Services St. Joseph's Motherhouse provides the public with notice in the event of a planned or unexpected disruption in the facilities or services, where it is known that the disruption limits an individual with a disability from accessing the facility or services. SJMH posts the reason for the disruption, the anticipated duration of the disruption, and alternative facilities or services that may be available.

    Compliance Documents

We will communicate with people with disabilities in ways that take into account their disability. Documents required by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) are available to the public upon request to the Administration.
