CSJ Blue Community Invitation to Water Justice Videos
On September 26th, a crucial online event happened to refine and reconnect our Blue Community work with water protectors from across Ontario.
In total there were 15 sessions hosted by the Wellington Water Watchers as part of the People’s Water Campaign, which was supported by our Congregations and the CSJ Blue Community project.
The range of issues and perspectives covered was broad, yet united within a common vision that protects water as a human right, shared commons, and sacred gift.
Rather than ask you to sort and watch all 15 sessions, our CSJ Blue Community Coordinator Paul Baines is offering you a slow stream of these videos over the next few months. Paul will share the links for 3 videos at a time. Consider watching 1 or all 3 by yourself your in a small discussion group.
If you participated in the event on the 26th, you likely only witnessed a fraction of the voices on water justice. If this is your first connection with the Watershed 2020 event, we hope you enjoy the wisdom, experience, and appeal of these sessions.

At the end of 2017, the Federation of the Sisters of St. Joseph became a Blue Community so that we can protect water as a shared commons, sacred gift,
and human right.
The Blue Communities Project encourages us to:
- Affirm the human right to clean water both locally and globally
- Limit the use of bottled water because water is not a commodity.
- Protect publicly owned and managed water services from being privatized.
- Re-connect to our watersheds with education, gratitude and action.

Blue Community News and Invitations
August 2020
This summer, our CSJ Blue Community project has been active in supporting the People's Water Campaign -- an effort to connect and strengthen various water justice causes in Ontario.
There have been several online conversations already on some of the key issues: plastics, privatization, and the pending sale of Nestlé operations in Canada to Ice River Springs. These events help us all understand the related impacts of water politics and guide our plans for a more just and beautiful future.

Since it's still difficult to bring people together during these COVID times, the Save Our Water folks in Elora are asking for our help for their Stand With Us social media effort. They are one of the leading groups fighting Nestle's bottled water expansion in Ontario.
from their website:
We are now launching our #StandWithUs campaign and we want you to join in! Tell us what water means to you and why you #StandWithUs in a short message on a chalkboard, whiteboard, sidewalk, or even a just sheet of paper (check out our examples). Next, have someone in your household take a photo of you with your message and put it up on your social media, tagging Save Our Water. We'll feature some of our favourites to help push this message and keep our momentum. #StandWithUs against new permits for water bottlers!
You can see examples of this on their Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/SaveOurWaterCanada/
Attached are 7 photos (taken from a Zoom meeting) that could be shared on your Congregation's Facebook page with the hashtag #StandWithUs
this hashtag lets the Elora folks know we are thinking of them. adding @SaveOurWater.ca also tags the group and shares it with their audience too.
