This week we are invited to pray for the 462 Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada, and 352 Associates. These represent the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto, the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste Marie, the Sisters of St. Joseph of St. Vallier, and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. A little history about the sisters of St. Joseph of St. Vallier: The Sisters of St. Joseph of Saint-Vallier were instituted in 1683 at Saint-Vallier, France by the Abbey of Saint-Vallier, who would later become Quebec City’s second bishop. They had originally been part of the large Congregation of St. Joseph that was founded in 1650 at Puy en Velay. Upon the creation of their order, the Sisters took charge of the small hospital in Saint-Vallier. When they arrived in Quebec in 1903, they were given responsibility for 80 elementary schools and high schools, two seniors’ residences, two hospitals, a house of prayer and a student residence.

We live in communities open to mission, among the people, as a sign of the unity that God works in the Church and in the world torn by divisions and violence. Let us cultivate among ourselves attitudes of patience, gentleness, humility, simplicity and cordial charity, typical of the Holy Family of Nazareth. The community, even in its smallness, is the irradiation of divine life. We look to Jesus the Eucharist as the model and source of all our inspiration and action. We try, in every environment, to create serene and positive relationships, through trust, dialogue, reconciliation. Embodied in the fabric of human history, we want to be discreet presences, full of humanity, alongside our brothers of any race, language, social condition and creed.” Link below to Jesus the Eucharist
Through the experience of scripture, journaling, reflection, sharing and prayer we will name and acknowledge our laments and losses and open ourselves to hearing God’s invitation to move to hope with trust and confidence. Come prepared to have time, space and quiet to journal and share in small groups as you are comfortable.
